Focused TMJ expertise is rare — there are only a handful of dentists in Northern California whose practice is genuinely centered on TMJ disorders and dental sleep medicine. That is why patients travel to Dr. Amin Samadian, DDS, from all around the Bay Area: the East Bay, Silicon Valley, the Peninsula, Marin, and beyond. One office, one diagnosis-first philosophy, at 450 Sutter St in downtown San Francisco. Call 415-570-2841 or start with a virtual consultation.
Start virtually, travel once it counts
Distance should not decide your diagnosis. A virtual consultation lets you talk through your symptoms, history, and prior treatment with Dr. Samadian from home. Two things cannot be done over video, and we are honest about that: a definitive TMJ diagnosis requires CT imaging of the jaw joints, and a sleep apnea evaluation requires a sleep test. The virtual visit determines whether that work-up is warranted and exactly what it should include — so when you do make the trip, every appointment counts.
Where our patients come from
East Bay
Dr. Samadian practiced in Orinda for nine years, and Lamorinda, Walnut Creek, Berkeley, and Oakland patients still make up a large part of the practice. The office is a short walk from Powell St and Montgomery St BART. TMJ treatment for East Bay patients →
Silicon Valley & the Peninsula
Patients from San Jose, Palo Alto, and along the Peninsula reach us by Caltrain (Salesforce Transit Center is a short ride away) or 280/101. TMJ care here is often tangled up with stress-related clenching and airway issues — both squarely in our wheelhouse. TMJ care for Silicon Valley patients →
Marin & the North Bay
From San Rafael and Mill Valley, the office is a direct trip across the Golden Gate — or a Larkspur ferry ride to the Embarcadero. Many North Bay patients pair visits with a workday in the city. TMJ care for Marin County patients →

Why patients cross the bridge
TMJ disorders sit in a gap between dentistry and medicine, which is why they are so often misdiagnosed or under-treated. Dr. Samadian is a Diplomate of the American Board of Dental Sleep Medicine and a Fellow of the American Academy of Craniofacial Pain who taught at the University of the Pacific, Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry. Diagnosis is CT-based, treatment is conservative-first — custom oral orthotics, Botox for TMJ, regenerative PRF therapy, and bite correction — and the jaw, bite, muscles, and airway are always evaluated together. When sleep is part of the picture, see sleep apnea care for the Bay Area.
What a Bay Area patient's care looks like
- Virtual consultation — symptoms, history, prior treatment, and whether a full work-up makes sense.
- One diagnostic visit — exam, bite analysis, and CT imaging in a single trip.
- A clear plan — your options and timeline explained before treatment starts; follow-ups grouped and handled virtually when clinically appropriate.
